If you’re a crazed fashion fan like we are, then you found yourself wanting to grab a ticket or two to Miami Swim Week. If you’re also like we are, you then realized that there was no way you were getting out of bed! Join us as we walk you through a few of the festivities that stood out at Swim Week 2019. By the end, you’ll have racked up too much FOMO to miss next year’s shows!
Sports Illustrated opened its show with Muslim model, Halima, who is taking both the modeling industry and Instagram by storm! She strutted her stuff in a hijab and it was everything we hoped to see and more! Some believe that Swim Week has snowballed into an event less about the industry and more into a competition of who can wear less. We were proud to stand with SI in bringing the fashion back to Swim Week! Another noteworthy moment was featuring a model in a wheelchair who sustained injuries to both her legs leaving her with weakened muscles. Sports Illustrated vowed to make a huge statement about inclusivity and that they did!
Yes, you read that correctly! Your very own Charles Albert teamed up with swim designer Rose Paulino to showcase her cutting-edge designs. Our Alchemia gold statement cuffs and chain link necklace stunned on the runway as each model sported their confidence and class! From body positivity to invigorating self-love, we adore everything that these designs embody.
One of this year's topics of importance was sustainability and preservation. A few designers curated their collections using eco-friendly fabrics to uplift their fab designs! One of the brands that hit the nail on the head was Cia Maritima who went plastic-free throughout their MSW presentation. The Brazil-based swimwear label also partnered with an endangered species organization to create a never before seen Jaguar print. They also vowed to donate one hundred percent of the collection proceeds to the organization!
